Dev Bandwidth Policy

STAGE 2: Under Review

TL;DR

This policy defines Developer Bandwidth (Dev Bandwidth) allocation for Licensees, based on their Enterprise and Standard subscriptions.

  • Dev Bandwidth Allocation: Calculated annually in March and reassessed quarterly, based on the formula: Revenue - (Infrastructure Costs + Support) / Dev Rate

  • 2025 Rate: R1,950 (excl. VAT), subject to annual increases.

  • Usage: Licensees decide how to allocate Dev Bandwidth for feature development, based on customer feedback and this policy.

  • Expiration: Unused hours do not carry over beyond the year.

  • Eligibility: Dev Bandwidth applies only to Standard and Enterprise tenancies, not PAYG tenancies.

Overview & Purpose

The allocation of Developer Bandwidth (“Dev Bandwidth”) under this policy is provided as a goodwill gesture to incentivise licensee growth and does not form part of the Licensee’s contractual rights, obligations or entitlements in terms of any license agreement, mandate or service level agreement in force between the parties.

Dev Bandwidth is intended solely to provide Licensees with an opportunity to propose enhancements and improvements to the Platform, drawing on market and user feedback, at no additional cost. Such enhancements are designed to benefit the Platform's ecosystem as a whole by ensuring continued relevance, usability, and competitiveness.

The provision and availability of Dev Bandwidth, as well as its scope and application, remain at all times subject to the licensor’s sole discretion, internal resource planning, and the terms of this policy. The licensor further reserves the right to amend, limit, or withdraw the Dev Bandwidth allocation at any time, without incurring any liability or obligation towards the Licensee.

  1. This policy outlines the concept and mechanisms of Developer Bandwidth. Each Licensee is allocated a number of Dev Bandwidth hours each year, based on how many Enterprise and Tenancy subscriptions they have.

  2. Dev Bandwidth is allocated to Licensees only. The Licensee decides how Dev Bandwidth is spent based on feedback from customers.

Scope

All employees, contractors, consultants, sub-licensees, appointed providers, temporary and other workers within or outside of the Licensee’s organisation and its subsidiaries must adhere to this policy. This policy specifies the sub-licensing parameters and processes.

Policy Details

  1. What is the current Dev Bandwidth rate? The 2025 Dev Bandwidth Rate is R1,950 excl VAT. The rate is subject to annual increase based on inflation, CPI and market-related developer resource costs. The Dev Rate is always equal to the Dev Bandwidth rate.

  2. How is the amount of Dev Bandwidth determined? We apply a formula to calculate your Dev Bandwidth based on the number of active, paid-for Standard and Enterprise tenancies. Bandwidth = (Revenue - (Infrastructure Costs + Support)) / Dev Rate

  3. How often are allocated hours calculated? In March each year, hours are calculated and assigned to preferred dev work. Each quarter, Dev Bandwidth is recalculated and additional hours are allocated accordingly.

  4. Do allocated hours expire? Yes. Allocated hours need to be used for preferred feature development by the end of each year - they do not carry over.

  5. Do I get Dev Bandwidth on all accounts? No. Dev Bandwidth is only earned on Standard and Enterprise tenancies, not on PAYG tenancies.

Use of Bandwidth: Non-Exclusive, Value-Driven Features

Dev Bandwidth may only be used for the development of non-exclusive features which deliver clear and demonstrable value across all of the Licensor's Platforms. For purposes of this policy:

  • “Non-exclusive features” are features that are intended for general availability and reuse, and benefit all Licensees and end-users, i.e. not just a single Licensee or a limited group.

  • Features or enhancements must provide “evident value and feasibility”, meaning they improve overall functionality, performance, usability, or competitive standing of the Licensor's Platforms.

Licensee Differentiation

Licensees may differentiate their respective iterations of the Platform they operate without utilisation of Dev Bandwidth by making use of the following mechanisms:

  1. Web/App Activities: Defined as custom pathway activities that enable the integration of an external application, service, or Platform as an activity within the Platform environment. This includes, for example, integrating a single web application, native mobile app, or external Platform into a user pathway.

  2. Auxiliary Services: Value-added or ancillary services offered and operated by the Licensee that are distinct from, and external to, the core Platform. These services may enhance the Platform experience, but do not require Dev Bandwidth for development or support.

  3. Integrations via the API: The use of the Platform's published Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to create connections with third-party services, internal tools, or to implement Licensee-specific custom integrations.

Exclusions from Bandwidth

Any development, configuration, maintenance, or support related to Web/App Activities, Auxiliary Services, or Integrations via the API is expressly excluded from the use of Dev Bandwidth. The responsibility and cost of such differentiation activities are borne solely by the Licensee.

Bandwidth may not be used for the development of:

  1. Custom or private features intended solely for the use or benefit of a single Licensee or specific group of Licensees and their audiences;

  2. Features that are not intended for eventual release into the main product/Platform offering;

  3. Modifications that do not demonstrate clear value and feasibility across Platforms and user bases, as determined by the Licensor.

  4. Consultations and out-of-scope support requests.

Right To Refuse Requested Features

The Licensor expressly reserves the right to refuse any requested features or development work that, at the discretion of the Licensor, do not comply with this policy. Such refusals may include, but are not limited to, features which are not:

  • Non-exclusive,

  • Value-driven,

  • For the benefit of Licensees across Everyday's Platforms, and

  • For the benefit of end-users across Everyday's Platforms.

Deadline For Submission Of Annual Dev Bandwidth Requests

To ensure proper planning and allocation, all requests for Dev Bandwidth for an upcoming annual cycle must be submitted no later than 31 March of each year, or as otherwise announced by the Licensor.

  • Requests made after this deadline may, at the Licensor's sole discretion, be declined, deferred, or rolled over for consideration in the following cycle.
