Data Activation

Create data activations linked to live data.

A Data Activation is once-off activity linked to data that can automatically establish fulfilment of an activity. It is linked to a data collection that has been uploaded in the Data Manager. Data Activations can be used to determine when the next Pathway step is unlocked.

A Data Tracking activity can be implemented for ongoing data tracking that presents users with a goal ring on their app dashboard.

Have a look at the sales target example activity, below. In this scenario, the sales data (added as a collection in Data Manager) has been created as a Data Activation.

In the example above, the objective is to use data to track the sum total of all sales made. By setting a static target of 5 sales, each staff member who reaches 5 sales will automatically complete this activity (no direct action is required by the user). In our example, the user will unlock a reward once they reach the goal.

Remember: data activations must be fulfilled in order to proceed on the Pathway. This means that the data linked to the activity must align with the target/goal that you set.

How to create a Data Activation Activity

  1. Select the + icon to add a new activity.

  2. Select Data Activation from the activity options.

  3. Add a name and select an icon.

  4. Set Data Fulfilment Settings. Create and track a data target / goal using preferred settings.

  5. Add a short snippet. Write a short description of the activity that will be visible on the Pathway for Desktop and Tablet only. (max. 90 characters).

  6. Write a description. Write a longer description of the activity (visible visible once a user selects the Pathway tile on Mobile, Desktop and Tablet).

  7. Attach a resource. Choose a file (PDF, Audio, Image, or Video) from Cloudfile.

  8. Activity settings. Data Activation activities are always required and the user must reach the specified goal.

When you set up a Data Activation, adjust the available metrics to create your targets.

Option
Description

Collection

Select the data collection you want to use (must be available in your Data Manager).

Goal Title

Name the activity (this will be visible to the user).

Data Formula

Select the formula you would like to apply to your data:Sum Total, Latest Daily Value, Latest Monthly Value, Latest Annual Value, Latest Value, or Average.

Data Column

Select the column (in your collection) that you are you wanting to pull values from.

Data Range

Choose timeframes within which your data should be considered for this activity. The goal will be reset based on the range you choose, e.g. for "Each Day", the goal resets each day.

Goal Type

The type will affect your Goal Settings options. You can choose a Static Goal or a Dynamic Goal. Static: provide a static number required to meet the goal. Dynamic: compare one column to another column, e.g. 80/100 sales for User A and 90/150 for User B. For dynamic goals, you will need a column in your data to define the variable goals (e.g. per user).

Goal Settings

If the Goal Type is set to Static Value, you will be able to enter a single static value (the target fulfilment value).

If the Goal Type is set to Dynamic Value, you can assign a Target Column (the column you will use to reference the target values) and a Target Formula (formula applied to the data column).
