How are Chat/Forum Notifications sent?

Chat & forum notifications are sent as push notifications (no email notifications are sent).

When are Chat/Forum Notifications are sent?

Chat & Forums notifications are sent in the following instances:

1. When a post is published.

2. When a user is mentioned (and they are not actively looking at the comment/chat thread).

3. When a reply is made (and they a not actively looking at the comment/chat thread).

If targeting groups, only users in those groups are notified.

What to do if chat or forum notifications were not received?

If a user does not see notifications this can be for several reasons:

1. Google/Apple notification service failed to deliver the message to the device.

2. The device has not allowed notifications.

3. The current device token has been renewed after the notification has been sent.
