# Linked Data

**In Pathways, you can link** **a data collection from the Data Manager.** This allows you to use data in a Data Activity or in Data Tracking.

## How to link data in Pathways

{% hint style="info" %}
To link data, you first need to create a Data Collection in [Data Manager](broken://pages/PFBMAGvj3EjWXaF4C1Hj).
{% endhint %}

1. **Open** [**Pathways**](https://everyday-digital.gitbook.io/pathways-docs/) **and go to Linked Data.**
2. **Select the + icon (bottom right).**
3. **Select a Data Collection that has been created in** [**Data Manager**](broken://pages/PFBMAGvj3EjWXaF4C1Hj)**.** Use the dropdown menu to make a selection.
4. **Indicate the data source type:** primary or secondary.
5. **Specify the** [**User Identifier Type**](broken://pages/PFBMAGvj3EjWXaF4C1Hj#unique-identifiers) **and the** **Corresponding Column**. This ensures that a unique identifier can be matched to a corresponding column name in your data upload.
6. **Specify the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) column.** This allows you to track, visualise and match data in relation to goals, targets or dependencies. Data Targets can be set in a Data Activation Activity on a [Pathway](https://everyday-digital.gitbook.io/pathways-docs/).

In this example, sales are being tracked:

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://everyday-digital.gitbook.io/authoring-docs/data-manager/linked-data.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
